PDA sales almost triple in Q1









This is good news for PDA company,
Sales of pocket PCs, smartphones and other PDAs grew 170% in the first quarter of 2006 to 106,000 units, SmartMarketing reported.
Smartphones and similar PDAs made up 71.3% of sales and pocket PCs -28.7%.
Windows Mobile based PDAs were most popular in the firstquarter,accounting for 66.2% of sales (35.2% in the first quarter of2005),Symbian OS devices accounted for 29.7% of sales (20.3%), and PalmOS - 4% (44%).
Among the major PDA producers in Russia in the first quarter were Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Qtek, HP, Nokia and Palm, Inc. (listed in alphabetical order).
The biggest sales outlets for the devices were BusinessBureau, Vobis, Euroset, Fox Telecom and RRC.
