Is this the Vodafone Treo?

can you tell me that photo above is the vodafone treo ? I dont think so because it no release yet. But we know that Palm is working with Microsoft and Vodafone to create the new antenna-less European Treo and they planned it to release end of this year , so only a few months from now. If we see the image/photo this treo same keyboard style as the Treo 700w and the Treo 700p. The Windows Mobile home screen has the Vodafone colours ( red and white ), There’s no indication of a second front-facing camera that’s the norm on most 3G phones, so most probably they’ll be no support for video calling on this model.

Clever Treo Tricks

PC World has a feature on some clever Treo tricks. Writer James A. Martin shares 5 ways to make the most out of your Treo. Among the tips are how to record phone calls and customize the Treo user interface.

1. Record Phone Calls and Voice Memos

Several applications let you record calls on your Treo. (But keep in mind that it's illegal to do this in some states without the other party's permission.)

try with CallRec

2. Count Carbs

Atkins dieters can keep a running tally of all the steak they're eating with Atkins Diet Carb Counter. The carb counter database includes chain-restaurant food, a graphical charting of your carb intake, a journal, and other tools. This $40 utility comes in Palm OS and Windows Mobile versions.
3. Count Seconds

Since you're dieting, you're also exercising, right? Next time you go for a jog, power walk, or bike ride, use your Treo as a sports watch.

For Treos running on the Palm OS, there's the $15 MegaClock. You could also try IntelliTimer ($30), a more feature-laden Palm OS utility.

For the Treo 700w and other Windows Mobile devices, try Timekeeper ($10).
4. Play Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man

You're waiting for the bus. You've already checked e-mail and voice mail. Now what? Play a game on your Treo, of course. Vintage video games, such as the classics Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man, are finding a new life on handhelds. We've got free trials of Palm OS and Windows versions for each game; they're $15 to keep. Here are the links:

5. Make Your Treo Look Like a Computer

PalmRevolt ($15) is a cool little utility that makes the Palm OS interface look like the Mac OS or Windows XP interface.

Mobile Credit Card Transactions using the Treo

You can process credit card transactions anywhere you can get a mobile phone signal. This service offered by MobileCharge. This system combine a mobile printer, an online payment processing service (Authorize.net) and a smartphone to do this. There are 3 different versions - Palm OS (Treo 600), Windows Mobile (Samsung i700) and Blackberry.

Palm to bring a new Treo PDA in Europe to comply with latest rulings

Plam planned to launch a new version of its Treo smart phone in Europe through Britain’s Vodafone Group.

This new version of the Treo PDA would resolve the technical issues related to their earlier model, which is now no longer available in the various European markets.

The company said that the new Treo will operate on Vodafone’s high-speed third generation (3G) network and it would be loaded with Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system.

Palm plans to make this device available to Vodafone customers in multiple European countries, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and Netherlands before the end of the current year. They would do well if it is launched just in time for the holiday season in these markets.

The company is facing growing challenge in these markets with RIM’s Blackberry, Motorola’s Q and Nokia’s E61 are trying to take away its share.

Enabling push e-mail on your Windows Mobile 5.0 PDA

You can Add push email capability to your Windows Mobile 5 (WM5) Device by installing an update from your manufacturer or carrier. Even if you've got an older Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone, push e-mail may just be a download away. Ever since Microsoft released the Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) for Windows Mobile 5.0 (WM5), a torrent of new pocket PC devices have been released with support for push e-mail, a feature that was previously only available to BlackBerry users. We've reviewed two such devices right here on CNET.com.au, the HP iPAQ rw6828 and the O2 Xda Atom Exec. However, many are not aware that owners of older WM5 smartphones (such as the original O2 Xda Atom) can also benefit from MSFP and its various upgrades, simply by applying a downloadable update.

And again, review about Treo 700p. For now from Top Tech News ,
isn't convinced it's the right device - 'For die-hard Palm aficionados who really need the speed, and who can spend $399.99 plus the cost of a two-year service commitment, the EVDO-enabled Treo 700p might be just the thing. For the rest of us, a competing EDGE-enabled product such as T-Mobile's MDA smartphone might be a tad less speedy but it does incorporate the Wi-Fi and global roaming capabilities that the 700p lacks.'

  • EV-DO High-speed wireless internet
  • 128 MB RAM - 60 MB available to the user

Palm Treo 700 vs. Motorola Q

There is a lot of similarities also differences from this phones. If you see physical package, Motorola Q clearly cooler. This phone also offers voice dialing, including over Bluetooth but treo 700P does not. On the other hand, the Treo may be the better dedicated e-mail machine, you must be more comfortable typing on the Treo 700p. you can turn off the phone mode and ringing on very easily. You can do this on the Q (hold down the home menu and you can chose the ring mode or set it for “flight mode”), but it’s much easier and more obvious on the Treo .
Both offer lots of options for e-mail, though only the Q supports Exchange Direct Push and Hotmail and MSN Messenger directly, Both have options for reading documents and attachments.

If you want the better, cooler phone, go with the Q; for the better e-mail device, pick the Treo 700p.
